Ike Barinholtz was born February 18, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois to his jewish parents, attorney Alan Barinholtz and his wife Peggy. Ike has noted how he and his brother John grew up in a very funny household, describing his parents as “liberal people with a great sense of humor”.

During his college years at Boston University, Ike Barinholtz had planned to become a politician. However, after a few semester of hating the curriculum enough to plummet his grades, he decided to dropped out. He went back home, where he worked at a telemarketing company and in the Chicago transit authority as a busboy, before he became inspired after watching an ImprovOlympic performance.

He took improve classes and later landed a spot with the comedy troupe “Boom Chicago” with with Seth Meyers, Jason Sudeikis, and Jordan Peele. Ike Barinholtz spent 2 years performing in Amsterdam with the troupe before he got his big career break when he was asked to join Fox’s late-night sketch show MAD tv in 2002. From there, his acting career has been involved in many fascinating projects.

Ike performed with MAD tv from 2002 to 2007. When his contract expired, he opted to focus his creative energy towards other projects. His first film appearances in Down (2001), Bunny Whipped (2007) and Disaster movie (2008) paved his way of his acting career, with more notable performances in The neighbors (2014), its sequel Sorority rising (2016), and Suicide squad (2016) where he had a more significant role as Griggs, a security guard at a secret prison for the criminal insane.
